John Conroy has been a Montgomery County Police Officer since 2002, where he currently holds the rank of Detective Sergeant. He is assigend as the supervisor of the Electronic and Technical Surveillance Unit. John has previously been assigned as a Patrol Supervisor in the 4th District and, prior to promotion to Sergeant, held Detective assignments in the Computer Crimes Unit, the Major Crimes Division/Robbery Section, and the Criminal Investigations Division/Silver Spring Investigative Section.
John has been a digital forensic examiner since 2005 and holds several certifications in digital forensics and cyber investigations from the Department of Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy (DCITA) and the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS), including: Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE/IACIS), Certified Digital Forensic Examiner (CDFE/DCITA), Certified Mobile Examiner (CCME/Cellebrite), Certified Incident Handler (GCIH/SANS GIAC), Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA/SANS GIAC), Certified Cyber Crime Investigator (CCI/DCITA), and several others.
John holds a Masters of Science Degree in Management from Johns Hopkins University. He has been teaching at Unviersity of Maryland in an adjunct capacity since 2009, and has lectured for the courses: Digital and Computer Forensics (CCJS498I), Interview and Interrogation, (CCJS498T), and White Collar Crime (CCJS453)
