Shawn Eastman has been a law enforcement officer in Maryland since 1997. He currently serves as the Special Operations Bureau Lieutenant with the Gaithersburg Police Department in Maryland. He has served in patrol, investigations, and in plainclothes capacities. He is a certified firearms, physical fitness and CPR instructor, has earned a certificate in Force Science, is a certified UFED examiner and possesses an advanced certification in Voice Stress Analysis. He routinely provides training in gang violence, use of force, patrol procedures, and other similar topics. Shawn completed his Master of Arts degree in Human Sciences from Hood College. Shawn has been an adjunct professor since 2007 and was awarded the Kendall Service Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2014. 

Areas of Interest

  • Investigations into gang activity, narcotics, internal affairs, and police applicant backgrounds. Criminal law, constitutional law, and criminal procedure. Use of force (Force Science), recruitment / retention of public safety professionals, and ethics.
