Dr. David Maimon has been named as the faculty mentor who has had the greatest impact on the academic achievement of 2018-2019 Philip Merrill Presidential Scholar, Zachary Spickler. Zachary Spickler is a rising senior in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. This highly selective program is made possible by the generosity of the Philip Merrill family. It recognizes students’ academic excellence and the important role that teachers and faculty have as mentors.
In addition to recognizing the seniors, the Philip Merrill Presidential Scholars program honors the K-12 teachers and University of Maryland faculty selected by the students themselves. A celebration luncheon for scholars, teachers, and faculty will be held on Friday, November 6, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the University House to celebrate this honor and to recognize the impact of teaching and mentoring on the academic success of our scholars. This luncheon will be hosted by the Merrill family and the Office of the President.
