Professor Christine White Receives 2013 BSOS Excellence in Teaching Award
Professor Christine White won this year's prestigious BSOS Excellence in Teaching Award. Professor White has been teaching Criminology courses at the university over the last 10 years. Professor White is a full-time lecturer in the Criminology Department, teaching four to five undergraduate classes a semester. She has taught both elective and required classes, as well as classes that meet the general education designations of "diversity" and I-series.
Both the College Park campus and the Shady Grove campus have benefited from her instruction. Professor White primarily teaches in the traditional, in-class format but has also instructed online and blended courses. She utilizes Undergraduate Teaching Assistants and works with undergraduates who do independent research with her.
Professor White is very much adored and admired by her students who sincerely appreciate her dedication to them and her interest in their success. It is clear from the students that they learn significant amounts of material from Professor White in a way that challenges them and makes learning a positive experience.
