Dr. Gary LaFree is the 2016 recipient of the Gerhard O.W. Mueller Award for Outstanding Contributions to Comparative/International Criminal Justice by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS) International Section. This is the International Section's most distinguished award.
The Mueller Award is conferred annually on an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of comparative/international criminal justice spanning the areas of scholarship, leadership, and service. The year's panel was chaired by Dr. Harry Rhea.
Dr. LaFree is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Director of the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland.
