The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice is proud to be a University of Maryland Silver Certified Green Office. 

To achieve the Silver Certification, Department students, faculty, and staff pledged to take many steps toward reducing our environmental footprint. Eliminating bottled water, maintaining living plants throughout our office, and buying 100 percent recycled paper are just a few examples of how we are supporting sustainability. 
 

Program Goals:

• Engage the campus community in activities that will strengthen the University of Maryland’s position as a national leader in sustainability

• Recognize and reward leadership in sustainability

• Educate participants about how and why to take action

• Support the University’s Climate Action Plan and Strategic Plan

• Further, integrate sustainability into campus culture

• Conserve water, save energy, minimize waste and save money

• Promote campus policies that support sustainability
