Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising event held on March 5 for all members of the University of Maryland community. Students, faculty, staff, parents, friends, and alumni are invited to join the largest day of giving because we are all Terps! The goal is to raise critical funding and engage our community to advance the mission of the University of Maryland.

The minimum donation is just $10, and you can choose to support any of the CCJS participating funds. Your gift can:

  • The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland continues to promote scholarship and research that align with departmental goals:
  • To lead in the development of criminological and criminal justice research and theory;
  • To train graduate students to conduct and understand basic and applied research;
  • To provide undergraduate education of the highest quality, including internships and international experiences.
  • The consult with the highest level of government (nationally and internationally) regarding policy-based research and serve as a primary resource on crime and justice matters for the local community and state.

Our department takes great pride in our undergraduate and graduate programs, including a Bachelor’s degree program at Shady Grove. Students and faculty alike benefit from our close ties to highly visible and successful affiliated Units and Centers in CCJS or on campus (MCRIC, START, CESAR, Maryland State Commission on Sentencing Policy).  As a whole, the depth and breadth of expertise in the department for the past 20 years has led to a consistent #1 ranking by US News and World Report.  We invite you to learn more about our programs and the accomplishments of our faculty and students.
