In the past two months, prosecutors' offices and court systems across the nation have seen their daily work to maintain constitutional justice uprooted, altered, and halted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, protecting defendants’ constitutional rights, while also ensuring the safety of their local communities remained a priority for prosecutors’ offices around the county. Now, as various states are making efforts to re-open their courts, we are at a pivotal time in our nation’s justice system and the steps that prosecutors take in the upcoming months could impact the justice system for years to come.

CNA and NDAA will host a virtual discussion about three offices’ experiences throughout the pandemic and the challenges facing prosecutors in the upcoming months. This event will highlight lessons learned and adaptations that have been made in the past two months. The discussion will also cover challenges, plans, and actions moving forward as courts re-open and business operations resume.

Moderator: Adam Gelb, President & CEO, Council on Criminal Justice

 Panelists will include:

  • Kim Foxx, Cook County State's Attorney
  • Kim Ogg, Harris County District Attorney
  • Raul Torrez, Bernalillo County District Attorney
