On April 25, Maryland Governor’s Office on Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) officials visited campus to discuss the future of the Maryland Crime Research and Innovation Center now housed within the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJS).
Researchers from CCJS as well as Public Health and Business presented pilot projects with the potential to better understand and prevent future crimes. Projects included Kiminori Nakamura and Jinney Smith’s Drug Traffickers in Maryland Circuit Court: Kevin Roy and Craig Fryer’s Trauma, Incarceration and Black Men’s Health in Maryland; and Laura Ardito and Brian Kim’s Using RDS to Identify Trafficking Victims in Prince George’s and Montgomery County.
GOCCP has invited the University to apply for another year of support under this initiative.
