Arnold Ventures, which has funded the Maryland Data Analysis Center since its inception in 2015, has recently awarded the MDAC a supplemental grant to hold a one-day conference at The Hotel at the University of Maryland in early 2020. The grant will allow the MDAC to share the final results of multiple studies completed about the Maryland criminal justice system, all of which are based on analyses of data from state and local Maryland administrative record data systems. Studies to be presented include analyses of the impact of the Justice Reinvestment Act, changes in the age-distribution of offending, sentencing variation across the state, case processing outcomes of UCR Part I offense arrests, and the necessity of warehousing data to preserve criminal justice records for data-driven and evidence-based policymaking.
