Barbara Brown Churchill Scotto, a treasured member of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice community, passed away in July 10, 2021.
A retired advisor at the University of Maryland Criminal Justice Department, Barbara loved students and counseling.
“Until her retirement from the University, Barbara was the backbone of our department. Many of you will remember that she took special care to know each and every member of the CCJS community. She not only got to know us, but our families as well. Barbara was kind and generous, thoughtful and supportive. She also had a keen sense of humor (which was needed for her position!). Our condolences to her family and many friends,” said Professor Sally Simpson, chair of the department.
