M. Cristina Layana Varas graduated from the Criminal Justice Master's program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2014. She is a recent Doctoral Graduate from the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of Maryland, College Park. She works as a Senior Data Scientist for the University of Pennsylvania - Crime and Justice Policy Lab. Her current project involves providing technical assistance to The City of Baltimore Mayor's Office Group Violence Reduction Strategy (GVRS).
