Tashawn is a first year Criminology and Criminal Justice Ph.D. student. She graduated with her B.A. in Sociology from Skidmore College in 2016 and her M.A. in Sociology from Howard University in 2022. Her research interests encompass a variety of issues dealing with race and its intersections with courts, sentencing, and criminal defense. Her master's thesis, titled Why Do So Few Black Lawyers Practice Public Criminal Defense? An analysis of self-reports and lived experiences was accepted in May 2024. She has previously worked as a paralegal for both corporate law firms and legal non-profits, and she currently is the TA for CCJS 100.
