CCJS Doctoral Student Frank Donohue has been awarded a Graduate School Summer Research Fellowship for Award Year 2024-2025.
The Graduate School Summer Research Fellowships support research activities that advance a doctoral student’s progress toward their degree, providing a summer stipend of $5,000.
Donohue will use the funds toward his goal of publishing his Master's Thesis in a peer-reviewed academic journal. The paper examines how changes in the Latino population over time contribute to fatal police use of force against this group, and how favorable political opportunities for Latinos either amplify or curtail this relationship.
"I would like to express my gratitude to the Graduate School for awarding me with this fellowship. This award will help me immensely as I make significant progress in transforming and ultimately publishing my Master's Thesis in a peer-reviewed academic journal. I would like to thank my thesis chair, Dr. María Vélez, for her continued mentorship and encouragement to apply for this award, other CCJS faculty members who have provided valuable feedback on this paper, and fellow graduate students who have supported me in this process."
