CCJS Doctoral Candidate Torri Sperry has been awarded a Graduate School Summer Research Fellowship for Award Year 2023-2024.

The Graduate School Summer Research Fellowships support research activities that advance a doctoral student’s progress toward their degree, providing a summer stipend of $5,000.

Sperry will use funds towards her goals of producing and disseminating research about how various complex social systems impact racially disparate rates of civilians killed by the police.

“I am very grateful for this fellowship as it has allowed me to focus in on these efforts and make substantial progress toward completing them,” she said. “I am thankful for the support of fellow graduate students in the [CCJS] department as well as faculty mentors that made me aware of this award, encouraged me to apply, and have been working with me as needed to further my progress on these goals.”
