Applying for Graduation

The deadline to apply for graduation is the 10th day of class of the semester in which you intend to graduate.

If a student does not complete the online graduation application by the end of the schedule adjustment period of the semester in which he or she plans to graduate, please contact CCJS Advising for instructions on how to complete a late application.

 

Winter 2017 Commencement

 

Campus-Wide Ceremony

Tickets are not required for the Winter 2017 campus-wide ceremony.

 

The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) Ceremony

The Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJS) department does not have an individual ceremony for Winter 2017.  All graduating CCJS majors are welcome to participate in the BSOS Ceremony, where the graduates will have their name called and walk accross the stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to apply for graduation?

A: Students who will be finishing degree requirements this Fall 2017 and intend to graduate must apply for graduation. The Application for graduation was due Monday, September 11, 2017 electronically via Testudo. To complete a late application, please contact CCJS Advising (ccjsadvising@umd.edu) as soon as possible.

Q: Do I have to attend either of the commencement ceremonies?

A: Participation in the campus-wide and departmental ceremonies are encouraged, but not mandatory. If a student chooses not to participate in the commencement ceremonies, he/she will still receive their diploma.

Q: Will I receive my diploma at graduation?

A: No, you will not receive your diploma at graduation. Your diploma will be sent to the diploma mailing address specified at the time the student’s application for graduation was submitted.  If a diploma mailing address was not specified, the diploma will be mailed to your permanent address.  Diplomas will be mailed several weeks after graduation.
