Thomas A. Loughran is an Assistant Professor in the department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland. He received his Ph.D. in Public Policy Carnegie Mellon University in 2007. Tom’s main research interests focus on deterrence, specifically individuals' response to sanctioning, models of offender decision-making and risk. Other research interests include juvenile justice policy and methods for eliciting treatment effects from non-experimental data.
