Lauren Porter earned a Ph.D. in sociology from University at Albany-SUNY in 2012. Much of her research centers on punishment, especially the incarceration-health nexus. She is also interested in topics related to the criminology of place, such as how aspects of the social and physical environment affect target selection and crime reporting.
