Guyu Sun is a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland. She earned her Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Sociology from the University of Macau in 2022 with a Certificate of Honors College.

Guyu currently works as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Wade Jacobsen. She previously worked as a research assistant for Dr. Sarah Tahamont and a teaching assistant for the CCJS100 (Introduction to Criminal Justice) course taught by Dr. Justine Madoo.

Her research interests center on the intersection of school contexts, juvenile justice involvement, delinquency, and other individual outcomes. She is also interested in labeling theory and mixed-methods research. Her ongoing master's thesis, chaired by Dr. Wade Jacobsen, examines how school cultural and structural contexts affect adolescent friendship networks following criminal justice contact.
