Alex is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University at Albany, a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the American University’s School of Public Affairs, and Master's Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland. His general research interests are the (1) effects of criminal justice processing on life-course outcomes, (2) decision-making regarding criminal punishment, (3) the impact of social structure on crime.
