Congratulations to Codey Carr, a doctoral candidate, who has been awarded a Graduate Student Summer Research Fellowship for Summer 2026.

The Graduate School Summer Research Fellowships support research activities that advance a doctoral student’s progress toward their degree, providing a summer stipend of $5,000.

Codey Carr will use these funds to support the completion of his doctoral dissertation proposal. His dissertation uses the National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS) to descriptively explore individual and environmental factors associated with drug overdose reporting behavior as well as evaluate the impact of drug criminalization legislation on overdose bystander reporting, law enforcement presence, and overdose health outcomes.

"I would like to thank my dissertation committee members, Dr. Greg Midgette, Dr. Peter Reuter, Dr. Lauren Porter, Dr. Andrea Lopez, and Dr. Shelby Steuart, for their ongoing support in the development of this project", said Codey Carr. "I would also like to thank Dr. Wade Jacobsen for his support in applying for this fellowship."
